Where to get fabrics in Malaysia?

Even though I just started sewing, I all into the fabric craze. Having a very supportive husband doesn't help either. He would take me fabric hunting all over KL and never once complaining bout it. As I look into the net, I found out that, it's not easy to find nice fabric - cotton/ knit fabric/ interlock here in Malaysia. While lurking around people's blog, I have a decent list of stores in Malaysia. Can't wait to pay them a visit soooon! mrgreen

Fabric hunting: Cotton and felt

As I browsed around the net, I get really excited looking at the fabric collection of everyone has! I tried to find (cotton) fabrics from major stores here but there are not many option. I wanted to make a project for newborns and I really wanted to find soft cotton. Ideally cotton interlock but couldn't find anything here. Oh well, maybe I'd go as far purchasing it on the net. biggrin

Later on I fell in love with felt. My hubby fell in love in the idea of making it into booties. He downloaded few tutorials from the net on it. I don't really have the mood yet but hopefully I will soon. wink I bought it from Yee Button House at SS2. They have the imported ones and local. So you have variety of options on the quality. A4 size of a imported felt may cost you RM4. I don't know of the pricing for felt but it does sounds expensive to me. confused I went to Macy (last Friday)at Petaling Street (where I've read somewhere that you can get a cheaper felt) but sadly it was closed. I reached there at around 6pm. Should have gone sooner. sad

Pants + Kimono shirt = Pajama! YAY!

I found an awesome tutorial on how to sew shorts as it's one of my goal to make Zhafran's short since I took up sewing. It's so handy to know the how to when you really needed one. mrgreen As of now I've made several shorts and long pants for my son. Never knew it'd be so easy. rolleyes Although my sewing skill still sucks. LOL! I'm so thankful to have found the tutorial. I can pair it up with the kimono that I made on the last entry. Now I can make a pajama out of it!

P/S: I hope I can make my own pants/shorts based on the tut! mrgreen

Here are the devils!

My first project!

I fell in love with this tutorial. It's a little too ambitious for a rookie like me. I didn't do it reversible because I wanted to do a simpler version of the tutorial. It was the first time I ever handle a sewing machine.. Opps.. forgot, I did took ERT when I was 15. It was too long to remember. LOL! I'm proud of it. At least it's a finish project. Although I agree that the work is sloppy. Haha! I will re-do the project soon. rolleyes

Here's the dress' front and back pictures.

As for the second attempt, I get my hands on this tutorial which I think is perfect for my little boy. It's pretty easy to follow and the tutorial was beautifully done. The thing that I love the most is when I see my little boy wearing it! Love it!

P/S: I bought few meters of left-over fabrics from Kamdar. Darn cheap. Cost me about RM2 permeter! Definitely a good start for me. ;)

My new sewing machine!

Wow! This is new! Sewing that is.. :) Never thought I would venture my self to one of these projects. When I was growing up, I hated the idea of sewing. All I could think of sewing = tedious + time consuming. Later, I came around and somehow interested in making clothes. I shared the idea with my hubby and surprisingly, he supported the idea and bought me a machine! YAY! It's beautiful.. Thanks hubby! :)

Happy Valentine's Day! :)
